Finding Purpose in Life

One quality that is common to most folks is our desire for significance.  We want to find some meaning or purpose in life that is larger than ourselves.  Some seek that purpose in achievement.  Some seek it in the accumulation of things.  Some seek it in relationships.  But failure, poverty, and the frailty of human relationships at some point leave us disappointed and discouraged.  Are you experiencing ALL that life has to offer??    Famed atheist Bertrand Russell wrote "Unless you assume a God, the question of life's purpose is meaningless."  Rick Warren wrote in his book The Purpose Driven Life, "You were made by God and for God--and until you understand that, life will never make sense."   Our purpose is to live a life that honors God.

Jesus, God's only begotten Son, said, "I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of."  John 10:10  (The Message)

You can find meaning and purpose for your life here and now AND have the assurance of eternal life in heaven by simply placing your faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God the Son

John 3:16 states that "God loved the people of this world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who has faith in Him will have eternal life and never really die."   (CEV)

Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead to give us eternal life

I Peter 3:18 states, "Christ suffered for our sins once for all time.  He never sinned, but He died for sinners to bring you safely home to God.  He suffered physical death, but He was raised to life by the Holy Spirit."  (NLT)

So what must you do to have this meaningful, eternal life of purpose?

Turn from living your life for yourself and turn to God through faith in Jesus Christ.  Acts 3:19 states, "Now it's time to change your ways! Turn to face God so He can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you, and send you the Messiah He prepared for you, namely Jesus"  (The Message)

Jesus said, "If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow Me."  Luke 9:23 (NLT)

If YOU believe that JESUS could be the answer to your search for purpose in life, you can follow Him beginning right now by simply praying this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and have lived my life selfishly until           this moment.  I believe that You died on the cross as punishment for my
sins and that You were raised from the dead to provide me with eternal life
in heaven with You.  Right now, I express my faith in You and my desire for
You to forgive my sins and take control of my life.  From this day forward,
I will strive to live a life that pleases You.            AMEN

With that simple prayer, Jesus has come into your life.  His desire is for you to experience a life of meaning and purpose now and an eternal life in heaven that gives us hope beyond physical death.  But remember, it's not about you now.  It's about living a life that pleases God.  You can find guidance and encouragement in a Bible-believing church.

If you prayed this prayer today, please contact one of our churches or the Association to let us know of your commitment to Christ.  We will provide you with materials and encouragement to help you begin to grow in your new faith.

GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU BEGIN YOUR LIFE OF FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST!
