Code Blue Gospel Ministry

Have you ever wondered what would happen if everyone in the world  received a copy of the gospel of Jesus Christ?  Does that sound like a daunting task?  What if we could give the gospel to everyone in our state?  What if we could place the gospel into the hands of everyone who lives in Colleton County?  A daunting task?  Not if we work together.  In every church, God has given certain Christians the gift of evangelism --- a heart to see other people come to Christ.  Colleton Baptist Association has 30 member churches.  If there were only 3 people with such a burden in each church, that's 90 people with a heart to see all of Colleton County have the opportunity to know Christ.   With a population around 40,000 and approximately 10,000 housing units, that would seem overwhelming to one or two people.  But with an outreach force of 100+, it is a reachable goal.

This vision is what we call CODE BLUE Gospel Ministry.   It's called CODE BLUE because of the urgency of the need.  The mission is simple and singular:  to place the gospel in the every home in our county.   In Isaiah 55:11, God says, " . . . so My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and will prosper in what I send it to do."   The plan is to simply place a vocal or written copy of the gospel into every home in Colleton County.

A few possible questions:

1. There are more avenues than ever for sharing the gospel.  TV, radio, internet, as well as churches.  Why do we need another one?   People have to choose to access those avenues.  We are commanded to present the gosepl to everyt person (Mark 16:15), not just those who choose to hear it.

2.  Will a person need special training to a part of Code Blue?  No. If you can walk, if you can pray, if you can give, you can participate.  All that is required to 2-3 hours/month on a Saturday.

3.  Will a person need to do a lot of talking and memorization?  No.  You will be partnered with 1 or 2 others, one of whom will be a designated team leader.  All you do is go door to door, hand out gift bags containing a copy of the gospel to families.  If no one answers the door, you leave the bag on the doorknob.  Contacts should take less than 5 minutes.

4.  How will we know we're not duplicating this service?   The county will be divided into grids and we'll work through those systematically.  We'll work with local churches in each grid to identify the homes of members.  We'll also work with Christian churches of other denominations.  Our goal is not to make Baptists but to make disciples.  (Matthew 28:19-20)

5.  What church do I invite them to?  This ministry is not about inviting folks to church.  It's about simply placing the gospel into their environment and praying that God will bless His word.  Inviting people to church is a wonderful ministry, but it is NOT the purpose of CODE BLUE.

6.  If I can't walk or I'm not comfortable knocking on doors, how can I be involved?    We need people who can give money.  Contributions will be used to purchase the "The Gospel of John" and blank CDs onto which we will load Ray Comfort's "Hell's Best Kept Secret."  $100 will purchase about 375 blank CDs.  $100 will purchase 300 copies of The Gospel According to John.    We also need prayer teams, folks who will meet at their church or the Associational Office on that Saturday morning to pray while others go out for distribution.  We need everyone to promote this in your church and encourage people to find a way to be involved.  Givers can make checks payable to 'Colleton Baptist Association' and designate to "CODE BLUE."

CODE BLUE every Saturday at 9:30am

Several folks distributed 103 packets on February 27.   Each family received a copy of the "Gospel of John," Ray Comfort's "Hell's Best Kept Secret" CD, a Gospel tract, and a note listing the CBA Website.  Pray that God will use His word to change lives.   There will be no distribution on March 6 due to the ARCHERY OUTREACH EVENT AT CANAAN.  The RED & WHITE TEAMs will distribute on March 13 & the ORANGE TEAM will distribute on March 20.   There will be no distribution on March 27 due to the RA/GA/Mission Kids Track Meet.

Team Leaders are:

Doug Tuten (Pine Grove)  -  Green Team (1st week)

George Todd (Hendersonville)  -  Red Team (2nd week)

Naveen Balakrishnan (Hopewell)  -  Orange Team (3rd week)

James Pedigo (Pleasant Grove)  -  White Team  (4th week)

  •  Our hope is to have enough participants that we can use this "GROW" approach to this Kingdom-Building ministry.   Groups are designated with a color.  The GREEN group will outreach on the first Saturday of each month.  The RED group will outreach on the 2nd Saturday.  ORANGE group on the 3rd Saturday, and WHITE group on 4th Saturday.  5th Saturdays (1/quarter) will be an 'Everybody Come!'

If you can't commit to the same Saturday each month, come when you can.  No taking roll.  No guilt trips.  We're just providing the opportunity for YOU to help place the gospel into every home in Colleton County and the Parkers Ferry area of Charleston County.

Can we place the gospel into 6,500 homes in 2010?  It was hockey great Wayne Gretzky who said, "You miss every shot you don't take."  Even if we don't reach 6,500 homes in 12 months, we'll reach far more than if we do nothing.

Since May 1, 2009, we placed the Gospel into 4,306 homes plus distributed 302 copies of the "The Invitation" CD at the Rice Festival.
